Kathy Haycock

Kathy Haycock's lively landscapes are animated with weather; wind, light, rhythmic movement and sounds.  Her interpretation is strongly influenced by her father, Arctic painter Maurice Haycock and by his close painting partner of 30 years, A.Y. Jackson.

Kathy works outside on location in all seasons. She consciously tries to start with a strong composition. Then she mixes colours loosely, working quickly and spontaneously, letting the brush respond to the scene and to the painting.

Though Kathy travels widely to paint, she always returns to her favourite region, Algonquin Park and the Opeongo Hills surrounding her home near Lake Clear.
