Ed Novak was born and raised in Hamilton. Ed studied fine art at the University of Guelph and at the Bellas Artes, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. He also has a degree in landscape architecture, although Ed found that he would much rather paint the landscapes then build them. “I traded bulldozers for brushes.”
In 1986, Ed and his family (wife and two children) built a home and moved to Muskoka. The wetlands behind his house, the forest outside his window and the calming meadows all became subjects for Ed’s beautiful paintings. His serene landscapes focus on the water, rocks and trees of Muskoka and definitely capture an atmosphere that is uniquely Muskokan. Ed is also well known for his exceptional treatment of: glass, crystal and silver.
