Ellen Cowie

Ellen Cowie has viewed the world through her artist’s eyes. Born in 1961, she has painted with oils since she was 17 years old. Ellen’s passion for painting was fueled by her maternal Grandmother's and paternal Uncle’s oil paintings in her childhood home. Her exploration of oils began in high school fueling her decision to study Fine Art at Guelph University. Ellen’s oil painting has evolved into a very distinct and recognizable style. She raised 6 children while living across Canada in isolated areas, which accounts for her unique style. Her vivid oil representations of everyday life often leads to treasured commissioned works. Ellen is passionate in exploring a wide range of motifs on her canvas with deliberate freedom, sharing her sense of optimism with the viewer.
