Description

The late Siggy Puchta was born in Greiz, Germany in 1933. When the town in which he lived became part of East Germany, his family fled. After two years he decided to immigrate to Canada. He took a position as a woodcarver in the art furniture department of Ridpath’s, in Toronto. After a year he changed to a stone carver at a monument shop. Siggy taught woodcarving at Humber College, and has exhibited in galleries all over the world.
