David Dawson was born in Hamilton. His earliest nurturing of art came from his dad when he and his twin brother would sit on either side of him fascinated by his sketches of horses and cowboys.

David studied architecture and design which influenced his imagery. His experience with gouache and oil allows him total freedom in expressing these images through colour, light and form.

David has public and private collections in Canada, United States, Scotland and Australia.
