Barbara-Joy Peel was born in Fort William. Barbara began her clay studies in 1971, amongst the clear lakes in Halliburton, Ontario. In 1979, Barbara-Joy opened her home-based studio, nestled in the heart of the Halliburton Highlands. Barbara enjoys the rugged and natural beauty of Central Ontario and its influence is frequently reflected in her work, which incorporates motifs of cedar sprigs & wildflowers. Her work is as diversified as the functional and decorative pieces and glazes she uses. Her desire to unite beauty with function is evident in her distinctive glazing techniques and designs which are simple in form and elegant in style.
